What's the purpose of the springs of spring energized ptfe seals

Springs are used to provide load around the sealing circumference and make the sealing lip tightly adhere to the surface of the shaft. Some designs use finger spring designs that only provide independent finger action in the required area, rather than clamp springs that apply pressure around the shaft. In addition, finger springs are either molded into the seal or mechanically connected to the seal, so that the spring does not fall off or be pulled into the device.

The spring energized seal made of PTFE has the following characteristics:

Low and high temperature resistance -200 ° C to 260 ° C (-328 ° F to 500 ° F)

Exceptional chemical and corrosion resistance

Provide the minimum friction coefficient for all sealing materials

Dry running capacity without lubrication

Standard design pressure up to 3000psi (210 bar)

High pressure special sealing design up to 20000psi (1380bar)
