X-shaped ring, also known as quad ring. Its sealing function is twice that of an O-ring and can be used in many static and dynamic sealing applications. Compared to the standard O-ring, the four petal X-ring can maintain twice the sealing surface. The double sealing action requires less compression to maintain effective sealing function. By reducing compression, friction is reduced and sealing life is extended. Leakage is usually caused by the irregular surface of the Haval line on the O-ring, which is located between the two blades and away from the sealing surface on the X-ring. In rotary sealing applications, the performance of the X-ring also exceeds that of the standard O-ring. The four petal design creates a safer seal to counteract spiral distortion. It is allowed to use a narrower groove width than the standard O-ring groove, but it can also be used in the standard O-ring groove. The measurement method for the X-shaped section and ID is the same as for the O-ring.
