Function and principle of rubber dust seal

There is an oil film on the surface of the cylinder piston rod. Generally, there are always dust or sand particles in the use place of the oil cylinder, which will be brought into the oil cylinder if they are bonded with the oil film on the piston rod surface, and scratch the lip edge of the lip seal ring on the piston rod, or scratch the piston rod surface, which will cause medium leakage. Therefore, it is necessary to set a dust ring outside the piston rod seal ring near the end face of the cylinder barrel.

The dust ring is installed in the groove. Since there is a certain amount of interference between the lip of the dust ring and the piston rod, the lip of the dust ring is close to the surface of the piston rod.

When the piston rod moves to and fro, the dust and sand adhering to the surface of the piston rod will be removed by the dust ring. There is a certain clearance between the right section of the dust ring lip and the piston rod, which can reduce the friction resistance between the dust ring lip and the piston rod.

Classification of dust ring

The dust-proof ring can be divided into lip shaped dust-proof ring, Tekang combined dust-proof ring and Zokang combined dust-proof ring. The lip shaped dust-proof ring can also be divided into skeleton lip shaped dust-proof ring and skeleton free lip shaped dust-proof ring.

(1) Framework lip type dust ring: it uses the interference fit between the framework and the cavity hole to prevent the dust ring from falling off. The lip of the dust ring is flush with the end of the cylinder head. This structure can prevent the lip from being damaged by external causes. It is mainly used in the situations where the lip of construction machinery, garbage trucks and other walking machinery is easily damaged.

(2) Frameless lip type dust ring ( pure rubber dust ring): it is installed in the closed groove at the front end of the cylinder head. During design, the lip must protrude slightly from the end of the cylinder head, so that the dirt blocked by the lip can be easily removed. The structure is easy to install and widely used, and can be used for general industrial hydraulics, walking hydraulics and pneumatics.

(3) Tekang combined dustproof ring (PTFE+rubber): it makes use of the elasticity of the O-ring to compensate the worn PTFE lip in real time. With O-ring of different materials, it can be used in high-speed, high temperature and special working media.

(4) Zocon combined dustproof ring (polyurethane+rubber): not commonly used. Its structure is the same as that of Tecon combined dustproof ring. The difference is that PTFE is partially changed into polyurethane (PU). It makes use of the elasticity of the O-ring to make real-time wear compensation for the worn polyurethane (PU) lip, which has the advantage of longer service life than the ordinary lip type dust ring.
