Concept and Use of Dowty washer

The Dowty washer, also known as the hydraulic bonded washer gasket, is made by melting the rubber into a circle at high temperature and bonding and vulcanizing the metal ring as a whole. It is used to seal the thread and flange to connect to the sealing ring. The combined gasket includes a metal ring and a rubber gasket. The metal ring is subject to rust prevention treatment, and the rubber ring is generally made of oil resistant nitrile rubber or fluorine rubber.

The Dowty washer is widely used in the pipeline system with oil as the medium, for welding, ferrule, expansion pipe joint, plug and static sealing of the end face of the pressure system of mechanical devices. The bonded washer seal ring is available in metric and imperial sizes, and the combination of metal pad and rubber of the combination pad is specified in JB982-77.

The Dowty washer is mainly used to seal threads, pipe joints and screw plugs. It is generally used with ferrule type pipe joints to plug oil ports. It is mainly used for the static sealing of the end faces at the threaded connections of hydraulic valve pipe joints. It is applicable to the static sealing of the end faces at the British and American standard British screw connections. The bonded washer can be divided into Type A and Type B according to the structure. It can be divided into full bonded and half bonded according to the different rubber bonded.
