What is diaphragm valve rubber?

Rubber diaphragm is a flexible diaphragm, usually circular and fixed at the edge. The main function of the diaphragm is to serve as a seal between two chambers. Rubber diaphragms come in various shapes and sizes, as well as customized molded diaphragm configurations.

The diaphragm is made of a highly elastic polymer disc that moves downwards to contact the bottom of the valve body, thereby limiting or hindering the passage of fluid. If the fluid flow rate is to be increased or the valve is to be fully opened, the diaphragm will rise. The fluid flows under the diaphragm. However, due to the material and structure of the diaphragm, this component limits the operating temperature and pressure of the valve. Due to its reduced mechanical performance during use, regular replacement is also necessary.

The diaphragm isolates non wetting components (compressor, valve stem, and actuator) from the flowing medium. Therefore, solid and viscous fluids are unlikely to interfere with the operating mechanism of diaphragm valves. This also protects non wetting components from corrosion. On the contrary, the fluid in the pipeline will not be contaminated by the lubricants used when operating the valve.
