Characteristics of sulfur cured IIR Orings

Advantages

Good air tightness. It can also be heat-resistant, ozone resistant, aging resistant, chemical resistant, and has shock absorption and electrical insulation properties. Has good resistance to sunlight and ozone, and can be exposed to animal or vegetable oils or oxidizable chemicals.

Disadvantages

the vulcanization speed is slow. Compared with highly unsaturated rubber such as natural rubber, its vulcanization speed is about three times slower and requires high temperature or long-term vulcanization;

Due to poor mutual adhesion, it is necessary to use tackifiers and tackifiers to improve the adhesion with other rubbers, and the adhesion force is relatively low;

It has poor compatibility with other rubbers and can only be used together with Ethylene propylene rubber and polyethylene;

The interaction between Butyl rubber and reinforcing agent is weak, compared with unsaturated rubber, and the interaction between butyl rubber and reinforcing agent is weak. Heat treatment or additives are required to increase the reinforcing effect of rubber and improve tensile strength, tensile stress, elasticity, wear resistance and electrical insulation performance.

The above disadvantages limit the use of Butyl rubber, and it is not recommended to use it together with petroleum solvent, rubber kerosene and aromatic hydrogen.
