How to measure the size of a large rubber o rings? 

The easiest method is to use a professional measure tool to help you. The tool we use is π ruler, the number we get from it is the diameter directly.

For the O ring which is too big to use a ruler to do the measurement, we can draw a ring on the flat floor, and put the O ring on it to see if it matches the drawing ring well or not.

If you do not have a such ruler or big enough ground, there is a third method. But the measure tolerance is bigger than previous two. First make a mark on the ring, as the start line. Use a ruler or strip to measure from one inner edge of the o-ring across to the inner edge. Make sure you measure the same side of the large rubber o ring all the time. Then, you get its perimeter, and use this number divided by 3.14, then you get the inner diameter of the ring.

The most directly method is to put the ring on your equipment to see if this works for you. 

Tips

Here is experience we want to share with you. The situation we met before is that the equipment is very large, and the O-ring was stretched during installation, so there was an extra part at the end if the perimeter is the same with the groove. That is why we commonly will suggest customer to do negative tolerance of the diameter.

But this not suit for every situations. You can show your detail information and discuss the size with us.
