Definition

A encapsulated O ring is composed of the inner core of silicone or fluorine rubber and the outer covering of relatively thin Teflon FEP or PFA. It combines the elasticity and sealing of rubber with the chemical resistance of Teflon.

Advantage

The rubber O-ring is easy to wear, and has poor chemical corrosion resistance and gas permeability resistance. Pure Teflon O-ring has high hardness and can resist compression. But it has poor elasticity. 

The encapsulated ring has good anti swelling performance and chemical stability (except for being eroded by alkali metal, fluorine and some halides under high temperature). It has good elasticity near the rubber O-ring. 

The friction coefficient of Teflon FEP/Teflon PFA is very small (only 0.1-0.2), and it has excellent gas permeability resistance. These properties enable the encapsulated ring to be really applied in harsh environments.

Function

The combination of the Teflon outer coating, which has seamless and uniform surface, with the rubber inner core makes the sealing element of the PFA/FEP encapsulated O ring keep consistent sealing performance as a whole. And the elasticity and compression of each point on the seal ring are uniform, so the sealing element can still be used repeatedly under the effect of continuous pressure

FEP shell, -60℃ to 205℃, short in 260℃

PFA shell, -60℃ to 260℃, short in 300℃
