Applications and Standards for Viton O-Rings
FKM has good resistance to petroleum products and wide chemical compatibility. Recommended for vacuum, most acids and chemicals, halogenated hydrocarbons, diester lubricants, petroleum and fuels, silicone oils and greases. FKM has excellent resistance to high temperatures, ozone, oxygen, mineral oils, synthetic hydraulic fluids, fuels, aromatics, and many organic solvents and chemicals.
Recommended use
FKM has good wear resistance, excellent compression set resistance, moderate short-term resilience, and excellent permeability resistance. It facilitates vacuum service and low air permeability.
not recommended for
FKM is not recommended for ketones, automotive and aircraft brake fluids, amines (ammonia), acetone, skydrol, ethyl acetate, hot water and steam, and low molecular weight esters and ethers. Low temperature resistance is generally poor and static applications are limited to approximately -15°F. Under dynamic conditions, the minimum service temperature is between -5°F and 0°F.
