FKM 85 Green ED Seals are designed to provide complete leak-tight sealing in high-pressure fluid systems by replacing conventional metal-to-metal seals or soft copper washcloths.

1. Parameters of Performance

Operating Pressure: Under typical clearance circumstances, up to 60 MPa (600 bar/8,700 PSI) without anti-extrusion rings.

Temperature Range: -20°C to +200°C (-4°F to +392°F); can tolerate brief highs of +230°C (+446°F).

Hardness/Durometer: 85 ± 5 Shore A (High durometer designed to avoid gap extrusion during abrupt pressure increases).

2. Compatibility with Media

Hydraulic oils (HL, HLP, HVLP), mineral-based fluids, synthetic ester fluids, bio-oils (HEES, HETG), aliphatic hydrocarbons, and high-purity fuels are among the recommended fluids.

Brake fluids (DOT), low-molecular-weight organic acids, ammonia gasses, and hot water or steam exceeding 150°C (needs specific EPDM or FFKM formulations) are examples of inappropriate media.

Hydraulic port machining must adhere to DIN 3869 groove shape criteria in order to maximize seal performance and prevent premature extrusion or tearing during assembly:
Surface Finish Requirements:
Sealing Surface Roughness (Ra): < 1.6 µm (for dynamic/vibrational settings, Ra = 0.8 µm is recommended).
< 6.3 µm is the Groove Flank Roughness (Rz).
Depth of Groove and Cross-Sectional Fill:
There is a trapezoidal trapezoid profile in the ED seal geometry. The soft sealing lip fills the port space by expanding radially as it is tightened. To avoid cutting the elastomer during stud installation, make sure the chamfer lead-in angle is between 15° and 20°.
Torque Tightening & Assembly:
Before installing, lightly coat with lubricant that is suitable with the system. To avoid over-compression, torque male stud fittings precisely in accordance with fitting manufacturer specifications for ISO 1179/DIN 3869 ports.
