There are different process of rubber productions. As for flat o ring gasket, it can be made by compression molding, vulcanized rubber sheet punching, or rubber hose cutting. 

Compression mold

The washer produced with this process has the best performance. Besides, it can be produced in various hardness. In other words, the limitation of washer with compression mold is not much.

The disadvantage is that the unit price is higher when compared to other two process.

Punching mold

The biggest limitation of punching mold gasket is the quantity need to be huge. Another limitation is that it always for small size product, or the inner diameter to be as small as it can, otherwise, the material waste is too serious.

Additionally, since the gasket is punched of from rubber sheet, and the rubber performance is not such good. If you do not have specific request on characteristics, you may can choose it.

The advantage is obviously that with a huge quantity, the unit price always is low.

Cutting

Flat O ring gasket with this process is commonly cut from a rubber tube. In daily life, the leather band for binding hair and money are all made by cutting. The performance of rubber is worse than compression molding.

The quantity request is also huge. The difference between cutting and punching is the wall thickness of the gasket. With cutting, it can be very thin.

Similar to the punching mold, the unit price is low.
