Unlike other materials that require a formula to achieve flame retardancy, FKM itself is flame retardant and still the highest level of flame retardancy.

Flame retardant rubber O-ring is a self-made O-ring made of specially formulated flame retardant rubber material. Usually, people's understanding of flame retardant rubber is that under normal combustion conditions, rubber does not burn, which is actually a misconception. Because there are no so-called general combustion conditions, polymer products cannot prevent combustion in any form, all they can do is change their combustion mode.

If the polymer is allowed to dry for a sufficiently long time, at a sufficiently high temperature, and under sufficient oxygen conditions for combustion, any fire prevention measures will be ineffective. Therefore, when the fire burns, rubber inevitably also needs to burn. So, the so-called positive ignition refers to the ability of rubber to delay the ignition time, reduce the flame propagation speed, and quickly extinguish itself after leaving the ignition source. Generally, it is represented by the oxygen index, and the higher the oxygen index, the better the flame retardancy.
