The difference between FKM and VITON
The main difference is that they have different properties, characteristics and applicability, as follows:
1. Different properties
1.FKM
FKM generally refers to fluorine rubber, which refers to a synthetic polymer elastomer containing fluorine atoms on the carbon atoms of the main chain or side chain.
2. VITON
VITON refers to fluorine-containing rubber in the molecule, and there are various types depending on the fluorine content, that is, the monomer structure.
2. Different characteristics
1.FKM
Resistant to high temperatures, oil and chemicals.
2. VITON
The weather resistance and ozone resistance are both good, but the cold resistance is poor. The operating temperature range is -20℃~260℃. When low temperature is required, a low temperature resistant type is available and can be used up to -40°C.
3. Different applicability
1.FKM
Because fluorine rubber has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, oil resistance, high vacuum resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and resistance to various chemicals, it is widely used in modern aviation, missiles, rockets, aerospace navigation, ships, atomic energy and other cutting-edge technologies as well as automobiles, shipbuilding, chemicals , petroleum, telecommunications, instruments, machinery and other industrial fields.
2. VITON
Due to its excellent thermal stability in demanding environments and resistance to corrosive fuels and chemicals, it is a particularly suitable fluoroelastomer for fuel system seals and hoses, shaft seals, expansion joints and gaskets. Because it extends the heat resistance of mid-performance elastomers, it is widely used in corrosive automotive fuel systems, aircraft, and chemical processing environments.
