How to assemble oil seal correctly?
1. Before assembly
Check thoroughly one by one to ensure that the lip is not scratched or bruised, the clamping spring is in the correct position, and the oil seal is clean and free of dirt. Then apply cleaning butter to the lips before assembly. The specific assembly method depends on whether the oil seal is placed on the shaft first and then pressed into the groove, or whether the oil seal is pressed into the groove first and then passed through the shaft. The former method should be used whenever possible.
2. Installation method
1. Recommended oil seal installation tools and methods
Ø The oil seal can be installed flush with the front end of the shell aperture, or close to the low section of the shell aperture.
Ø The reference surface for installation and positioning should be a machined surface. Unprocessed reference surfaces cannot be used.
Ø A layer of lubricating oil should be applied to the outer diameter of the oil seal when assembling it.
Ø Use hydraulic or pneumatic pressure to install the oil seal at a uniform speed.
Note: The oil sealing surface is flush with the reference plane of the shell to ensure the installation verticality with the shaft center after the shaft is installed, so that the oil seal lip forms a linear contact zone on the shaft surface to achieve a good sealing effect.
2. Installation without oil seal tooling
Ø Apply a layer of suitable lubricating oil when assembling the outer diameter of the oil seal.
Ø The force used to knock and install the oil seal should be even and not tilted.
Ø Check that the oil seal is flush with the reference plane of the shell after being inserted.
Check that the oil seal spring does not fall off.
three. Wrong assembly methods and improvement methods
Common mistakes:
Ø The hammer directly hits the oil seal.
Ø There is no reference surface to force the oil seal to be assembled.
Ø The oil seal tooling is unreasonable.
Result:
Ø The oil seal is deformed.
Ø The outer diameter of the oil seal and the dust-proof lip are chewed and scratched
Ø The oil seal and skeleton are debonded.
Ø The oil seal spring falls off.
Ø The main lip of the oil seal is deformed.
