Advantages of silicone rubber products
If you need a rubber product that can withstand harsh environments, silicone rubber may be an excellent choice for your application. Silicone rubber is highly resistant when it comes to extreme temperatures, able to function well in the range of -100°C to +250°C (-150°F to +480°F). Tensile strength, elongation, tear strength and compression set can be far superior to conventional rubber at extreme temperatures. This makes it one of the materials of choice for many extreme environments.
Advantages and Benefits:
High temperature and low temperature resistance is much better than organic rubber
good thermal stability
Waterproof and forms a tight seal
Excellent electrical insulation, even if immersed in water, the insulation performance will not decrease, it is an ideal insulating material
Elastic at low temperatures, hardens at high temperatures
Exposure to steam usually causes little or no deterioration at atmospheric pressure
Flame retardant, not easy to ignite. Some products have obtained UL94 V-0 certification according to UL94 (USA) flammability classification standard.
Unlike most organic elastomers such as EPDM and neoprene, the compression set of silicone rubber remains consistent over a wide temperature range of -60° to +250°C. Selection of a suitable curing agent and post-curing are especially recommended when using silicone materials to manufacture molded products that require low compression set.
Tailor the compound formulation by selecting the appropriate curing agent and/or post-curing the compound to increase resistance to flame, steam and hot water (over 150C) and can be customized for specific applications
low chemical reactivity
