The function of various sealing rings

V-shaped sealing ring

It is an axial acting elastic rubber sealing ring used as a non pressure seal for rotating shafts. The sealing lip has good mobility and adaptability, can compensate for large tolerances and angle deviations, can prevent internal grease or oil from leaking out, and can also prevent external splashing or dust intrusion.

O-ring seal

Mainly used for static sealing and reciprocating motion sealing. When used for rotary motion sealing, it is only limited to low-speed rotary sealing devices.

V-shaped sealing ring

Generally installed in a groove with a rectangular cross-section on the outer or inner circle for sealing purposes.

Y-shaped sealing ring

Widely used in reciprocating sealing devices. In addition, there is a spring tension (spring energy storage) sealing ring, which adds a spring to the PTFE sealing material. There are O-ring springs, V-shaped springs, and U-shaped springs.

Brief description of product usage: This standard is applicable to the use of YX type sealing rings when the working pressure of the oil cylinder is greater than 16MPa, or to protect the sealing ring when the oil cylinder is subjected to eccentric force

YX type sealing ring for shaft

Brief description of product usage: Used for sealing the piston rod in reciprocating hydraulic cylinders. Applicable range: PU: general hydraulic cylinders, general equipment hydraulic cylinders.

YX type retaining ring for shaft

Brief description of product usage: This standard is applicable to the use of YX type sealing rings when the working pressure of the oil cylinder is greater than 16MPa, or to protect the sealing ring when the oil cylinder is subjected to eccentric force

Selection and requirements of sealing ring devices

Sealing rings are the most important and effective means to solve the leakage problem of hydraulic systems. If the sealing ring of the hydraulic system is poor, the sealing ring may experience impermissible leakage, and the leaked oil will pollute the environment; It may also cause air to enter the oil suction chamber, affecting the working performance of the hydraulic pump and the smoothness of the hydraulic actuator movement.

Therefore, the reasonable selection and design of sealing ring devices is very important in the design of hydraulic systems, and the requirements for sealing ring devices are as follows:

1. The sealing ring should have good sealing performance within the working pressure and a certain temperature range, and can automatically improve the sealing performance as the pressure increases.

2. The friction between the sealing ring device and the moving parts should be small and the friction coefficient should be stable.

3. The sealing ring has strong corrosion resistance, is not prone to aging, has a long working life, good wear resistance, and can automatically compensate to a certain extent after wear.

4. The structure is simple, easy to use and maintain, allowing the sealing ring to have a longer lifespan.

Installation precautions

1. Clean the installation position;

2. Remove burrs during the installation and movement of seals;

3. Apply lubricant to the sealing element;

4. Protect the sealing surface from damage;

5. Recheck and confirm that the size of the sealing element is correct;

6. Use corresponding tools to install seals that require deformation installation.

Performance and Application of O-shaped Rubber Sealing Ring

The O-ring rubber seal is a rubber product with a circular cross-sectional area. Its applications are widespread in fields such as chemical engineering, machinery, coal, petroleum, metallurgy, transportation, and household appliances. O-ring is the largest and most widely used sealing component among all rubber sealing products.

Performance and Application of O-ring Rubber Seals

O-shaped rubber sealing rings are widely used in various mechanical equipment, playing a sealing role in different temperatures, pressures, and media to prevent mechanical equipment from oil, gas, water, and the invasion of external environmental media and dust. Compared to other rubber seals, it has the following advantages:

1. Simple structure, small size, and compact installation location.

2. It has a self sealing effect and does not require periodic adjustment.

3. Good sealing performance, no leakage during static sealing.

4. Low frictional resistance in motion, suitable for situations with alternating pressure.

5. The size and groove have been standardized, the price is cheap, the product is easy to obtain, and it is easy to use and purchase.

6. Highly adaptable and widely used.

Shortcomings of O-ring rubber seals

1. When used for compressing dynamic seals, the starting friction resistance is relatively high.

2. It is difficult to achieve no leakage during dynamic sealing, and the leakage amount can only be controlled to not exceed the specified allowable value.

3. During the process of pneumatic and hydraulic sealing, lubricating oil needs to be added to prevent wear. In certain situations, it is often necessary to add dust and protective rings.

4. The machining dimensions and accuracy requirements for dual mating parts such as moving surfaces, grooves, gaps, etc. are strict.

According to the relative motion state between the O-ring and the sealed device, it can be divided into static sealing O-ring, reciprocating sealing O-ring, and rotary sealing O-ring. According to the sealing structure, O-rings can be divided into two types: radial seals and axial seals.

The material used to manufacture O-ring seals is mainly synthetic rubber. The selection of adhesive type varies depending on the working temperature, contact medium, and pressure.
